The Jadelist: SEP 15

Hey hey lovely people

Wake me up when September ends. Literally, where have I been all this month?!

Now we've got that cliché out of the way, let's talk about my ten favourite songs for the month of September.

Now during September, I get what I like to call 'self diagnosed S.A.D'.

Seriously, as soon as I know that Autumn has hit, when the nights come in earlier and the sun doesn't rise until late, I get super upset over losing summer, or at least the six days of sun that we had. Shout out to the not so Great British weather.

Why am I telling you this? Well, I believe that this has genuinely impacted my music choices this month. Have a look back at last months Jadelist and let me know if you notice a difference.

We're also having a little change around with Jadelist this time. I couldn't find original versions of some of these songs on YouTube, so I bit the bullet and decided to use Spotify instead.

The whole playlist will be available at the end of the post for you to follow or to listen to again.

Without further ado, here's the September Jadelist.

Enjoy!

Hoppípolla by Sigur Rós

Well, I'd be surprised if you didn't know this song.

Let's face it, it's pretty iconic, or at least it is if you're a Brit. This song is used at so many award ceremonies or some kind of epic event.

Now for the real question: how many of you actually knew what it was called?

Hands up, I admit that it wasn't until a month ago when I heard it on TV and finally had the opportunity to shazam it that I actually knew what it was called.

Funnily enough, after listening to this on repeat a fair few times, it struck me that it reminded me of Go Do by Jonsi.

Yeah, little did I know that Jonsi is actually a member of Sigur Rós. Fact of the day here guys.

If you weren't personally moved by this song then I'm afraid that I may have to disown you.

Do You Realize?? by The Flaming Lips

Now, hear me out!

The first time I heard this song, I never realised how weird it can sound, along with the lyrics too.

I was scrolling through Vine one day when I heard it in a clip. Shout out to the new music feature on

My First Bloggers Event - LUSH Mothers Day Event

Hey hey lovely people!

Last week, I was given the opportunity to attend LUSH Bath's bloggers event for the Mothers Day product launch.

Yeah, this was my first ever bloggers event. Bless me!

Honestly, I was so excited and nervous prior to it, after all, I have a pretty small blog, especially compared to most people that attend bloggers events.

At the same time though, it was a LUSH event, probably my favourite company (I mean c'mon, just look at my Instagram!), and being lucky enough to see the product range before everyone else, well, that was FAB!

Thankfully, I wasn't going alone! My trusty sidekick Dayna was attending too, so we made the journey from Wales to Bath and arrived way too early, like the cool kids we are not!

After freaking out and double checking we were here on the right day, other people started to turn up. My 'small blog syndrome' started to go away because everyone was so lovely and welcoming.

So, when we all went inside, we were first shown the new range and given a description on them.

So, here's the LUSH Mothers Day 2015 range:

So, first up, we have a returner from 2014, Secret Garden.

I remember using this last year and being amazed as how pigmented this bath bomb. Not to go all Persil on you, but it really is small and mighty!

When used, it's as if it paints the surface of the water. I'm pretty sure that I once saw a demo where a flower pattern was left behind. It smells kinda sweet and floral, thanks to the rose and marigold in this.

Next up is Rose Bombshell.

Don't be fooled by this bath bomb; it may look like a simple beauty, but after the outer shell fizzes away, petals are released and your water begins to turn pink.

It definitely smells like roses, but not in the way that Rose Jam does, it's more powdery. I think this is gonna be the dark horse of the Mothers Day lineup

Now onto bubble bars, and starting with my favourite, we have Ultraviolet.

This one fits in with the big bubble bars (That alliteration though), along with The Comforter and Brightside.

When used, it creates violet coloured water, which coincidentally, I think smells just like parma violets too!

And the cutest Mothers Day product goes to Mother Superior.

I will be honest, when I was waiting outside and spying through the window, I couldn't tell what this was. Initially, I thought it was some weird sheep. I blame my Welshness.

After a little sniff, I'd say it smells like a lovely soapy bath, with a soft floral hint. I'm tempted to say it's jasmine. Either way, it's one of those products you'd want in a bath to feel cosy before bed.

Everyones childhood in a LUSH product. Here we have the ever so cute Bubblegrub.

In case you couldn't tell by now, this is fashioned on the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Note how it's eyes are made from chocolate buttons? Yeah, trying real hard right now to not eat them.

Most people aren't to keen on this ones scent. To me, it's like a mixture between Coconut, chocolate and fresh mint. Definitely a very food scent, but a bit weird.

Now for the signature shower gel for Mothers Day, Yummy Mummy.

I was a bit wary on this, considering I wasn't all that fussed on the Valentines scent, Prince Charming.

Turns out, this smells absolutely lovely. It's kinda sweet and caramel-ish, but with a fruity and floral hint.

Plus, if you're super obsessed, you can get it as a body conditioner too. Fab!

Now, for the Mothers Day soap, Love You Mum.

Look at how beautiful it is?! Personally, I wasn't too keen on the scent, which is why I didn't purchase any, but the website says that it contains Mimosa absolute, Bergamot oil and Jasmine absolute.

After all the products were introduced to us, we had free reign of the store, able to take up all the fab opportunities that were there on the night. First, we went to a scent test to find out which fragrance we would like best.

Turns out some scents smell completely different on certain people. What can smell like orange to some actually turned into lemon on others!

Afterwards, because how could we not, we swatched some of the LUSH makeup products. I now realise that LUSH actually make a really good highlighter.

Along with the scent test, we were also offered hand massages with some of LUSH's signature products, including Ro's Argan Oil body conditioner and the new Yummy Mummy shower gel. Also, thanks to Dayna's arm for being a fab model.

There were some lovely lemonades and snacks available at the front that looked cute and fancy.

Yeah, cue awkward Jade that can't drink fizzy drinks making a squash. Thankfully, I wasn't alone! Shout out to Clair, a fellow member of the anti fizzy drink club.

Finally, we left the best for last, making out own bath bombs and bubble bars.

As you can see, everyone here was creative with their Sunnyside bubble bars, and then there was me, making a pasty...

Overall, it was such a lovely night and I'd like to thank LUSH Bath for inviting me along. Hopefully I'll be invited back for more events!

So, question of the post: Which LUSH Mothers Day product are you looking most forward to using?Let me know in the comments below!

As always, thank you so much for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!

Blogmas Day 18 - 5 Reasons Why You Should Moisturise

Hey hey lovely people!

So, as you know from reading my last post, we're getting new windows fitted in my house, which means that for the past few days, all we've really been doing is tidying and cleaning, hence the poor post timings. Sorry!

Today though, I thought I'd do another 5 reasons post, one that links to the last one!

So, here we go, 5 reasons why you should moisturise.

1) To restore moisture in your skin

Okay, let's start with the obvious one. They're called moisturisers for a reason, because they restore the moisture that your skin has lost.

2) To seal in moisture

Now, we just talked about how your skin can lose moisture right? Well, applying a moisturiser (Preferably petroleum based) can form a barrier on your skin that stops moisture from escaping.

3) To soothe and stop irritations

Is it bad that I immediately feel itchy after writing this?! It's so annoying when your skin becomes irritated and you can't help but scratch it. Seriously, that just makes things worse. Well, moisturise! Products containing ingredients like Aloe and chamomile help to soothe irritated skin.

Plus, remember that barrier we were talking about? It also helps to protect the skin from dryness and allergens, two of the biggest allergens!

4) To heal the skin

Now, I know this one all too well after my lip struggles over the past few months. Dry skin can't properly heal itself, so keeping it moisturised will just help things heal quicker. In my case, using Vaseline, a petroleum based moisturiser, helped to seal moisture in my lips and voila, I now have super soft lips again!

5) To look younger

Let's prevent those wrinkles! Moisturised skin is plumper, thus reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As simple as that!

So, question of the post: What moisturisers do you like to use? I ADORE Simple's oil balancing facial moisturiser. Seriously, I use it daily.

For a body moisturiser, I love Vaseline's Spray & Go, mainly because I'm lazy and it smells like Hollister! Yum!

Finally, I love to use Vaseline to moisture my lips, BUT NOT the lip therapy tins, I'm talking about the full on original Vaseline. I'm convinced it's a different formula. The original one is definitely thicker.

As always, thank you so much for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!

Blogmas Day 16 - My Wax Obsession

Hey hey lovely people!

So, I was sat around thinking what to post on, then I realised the lovely smell that was in my living room from my wax melter.

Therefore, today's post is gonna be on my latest obsession, WickNWax!

Okay, so WickNWax are a small UK based company that make tons of wax melts in all different shapes and sizes. It's funny because until about a month or so ago, I'd never used a wax melt!

I'm trying to remember where exactly I first heard of them, but it was definitely on Instagram from someones post. After that, I thought I'd have a look on their website, which ended up with my buying a warmer and a few different scents.

You can buy waxes in different scents and shapes, for example, a scent shot, which is basically a single scent which you can use to 'test' a fragrance, or combine with others to make your own unique fragrance!

Along with all the other products are wax loaves, which you can customise if you choose. Naturally, I HAD to make something with raspberry, so I have my own personal scent of Raspberry, Cotton Candy and Birthday Cake.

My personal favourite scent from WickNWax as of now is Blonde Moment (the yellow one above), a mixture of champagne, raspberries and strawberries! Yum!

Now, for this of you just starting out in wax, big tip! Unlike candles, wax won't just melt away. Instead, it'll just lose its scent.

I think most people use up there wax until the scent had gone, pour it away and then pop a new one in. To be honest, I like to change my scents up quite often, which is why I freeze mine.

Freeze?! Yes, you heard that right. When your wax has cooled, put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes and it'll pop out of the warmer so easy, in a cute little square shape, or whatever shape, depending on your wax warmer.

So, that's kind of a brief introduction into wax melts! If you have any questions or suggestions, let me know in the comments below!

Question of the post - Have you ever tried a wax melts? What's your favourite and from which brand?  Let me know in the comments below!

Blogmas Day 15 - The Braceface Tag

Hey hey lovely people!

Today, I had another orthodontist appointment, and honestly, my teeth are aching a bit, so I thought I'd have a quick but relevant post today.

I present, the Braceface tag!

1. When did you get your braces on?

11th April 2014.

2. How soon after you got them could you feel pressure or aching?

I think it was either 20 minutes or straight after. It was so weird!

3. On a scale from 1-10 (10 being the worst) how bad was the pain for you?

I'd say about 6-7. I'll be honest, at one point, it felt like I wanted to just rip them off. (Don't worry kids, it gets better!)

4. What kinds of food to you eat when you first got your braces?

SOUP! Literally, soup and yogurt for a week.

5. How often do you get adjustments?

Every 8 weeks.

6. Do you wear rubber bands? Comments about them?

Nope, well, at least not yet. Clearly, I'm gonna look ultra fab when I get them...

7. How many times a day do you brush with your braces? Do you have any tips to prevent the "little white squares" on your teeth?

Twice a day. Tips, hmm, get a really good electric toothbrush and always carry those spooley things with you. Believe me, they are life savers!

8. How often do you get your braces tightened?

Didn't you just ask that? 8 Weeks!

9. Do you get to pick your colours??

Yup, but I've always stuck with silver, unless I have to have power chains. Ain't no chance that I can pull off a rainbow look, or Ugly Betty realness!

10. How long do you have your braces for?

Somewhere between a year and a year and a half. Though according to my orthodontist, my teeth are moving pretty fast, so we could be looking more towards the year mark.

11. Did you need jaw surgery?

Nope!

12. What kind of toothbrush do you use with your braces/appliances?

Oral B Triumph 5000. Seriously guys, you have to try it! It's SO good!

13. Do you use wax?

At the beginning, I used wax all the time, like I really looked that good with wax all in my braces. Now though, I use it pretty rarely, I'd say once every two months. Y'know, on those days where you wake up and you lips are just all caught up in your braces. Lovely...

14. How long did getting your braces on take?

Oh gosh, it was so much quicker than I expected! I honestly think it was 20 minutes!

15. What appliances have you/do you have?

Appliances? Dya mean like headgear and stuff like that? I have none of that, just plain braces.

16. Do you ever get that metal taste in your mouth??

No. I don't get that, I think the only metal taste you get is from Iron, which clearly, braces aren't made from!

17. What colour bands do you get??

Silver!

And that's the Brace Face tag. My teeth have changed so much in the last 8 months thanks to braces. To anyone reading this who's a bit unsure, totally go for it. I promise you won't regret it!

So, this was taken before my braces went on (I'm the one on the right)

And this is what my teeth are like now, though I've still got a few months to go! Please ignore my awfully swollen gums, I had a chain put on a couple of hours ago!

So, have any of you got braces, had them, or simply want them? Let me know in the comments below and tell my your experiences!

As always, thank you so much for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!

Blogmas Day 14 - My Top 3 Nail Varnishes

Hey hey lovely people! Finally, a post that's actually up on the correct day! 10 points to me!

Today, we're continuing with the Top 3 series. So here it is, my top 3 nail varnishes.

Note, this isn't on consistency/longevity/etc..., this is soley on shade.

Let's do this!

So these are top 3 nail varnishes as of December 2014, in the following order:

1st - Barry M Gelly in Lychee
2nd - Models Own in Emerald City
3rd - Barry M Gelly in Paprika

So, let's start with my favourite, Lychee.

This is literally my all time favourite go-to shade. It matches anything, it's great for any situation, plus, since it's a gelly product, it doesn't take a million coats to get it looking great!

In all honesty, this is probably my 5th bottle of this. Perhaps the most perfect shade of nude to ever be created! Am I right?!

Definitely my all time favourite.

If there was a nail varnish to represent my entire existence in sixth form, it would be Models Own Emerald City.

This nail varnish is probably the most beautiful colour I've ever seen. It's so sparkly and beautiful, plus, since it's a glitter product, it's not so easy to chip.

My only criticism is that, since it's a glitter, you'll either need to apply a million coats, or find a non glitter nail varnish to match it as a base, and good luck finding that.

When I have the effort, this nail varnish is always a winner.

Now, for my favourite of this A/W, Paprika.

I picked this up thinking that it was a burnt orange. Turns out, it's more of a tan/brownish red shade when applied.

Sure, I was disappointed initially, but then I realised just how on trend this varnish could be.

This has probably been my most applied nail varnish of A/W 2014. Plus, it looks gorgeous with a matte top coat.

Which leads me onto my wild card.

I know this post says top 3, but this isn't really a shade, plus, it's something that I love so much!

Now, please don't buy any matte shades of nail varnish! Why spend all that extra money when you can just buy a matte top coat instead?!

I love the Rimmel one, mainly because the brush gives a great application, but word on the street is that you can pick up a matte top coat from Asda for £1!!!

I think everyone needs a matte top coat in their life. It's a quick way to jazz up your plain varnishes.

So that was my top 3, plus one, again!

What I wanna know is, what's your favourite nail varnish shade? Let me know in the comments below!

As always, thank you so much for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!

Blogmas Day 13 - My Top 3 Foundations

Hey hey lovely people! How are you all doing today?

Now, for a couple of days during Blogmas, I'm planning on posting a series of 'Top 3' blogs, letting you know my top 3 favourite beauty things. If there are any specific items you'd like to know my top three of, let me know in the comments below.

Today however, I'm gonna let you in on my top three favourite foundations. Little known fact, foundation is my favourite beauty item!

Voila, here are my top three foundations, the order being

1st - NARS Sheer Glow
2nd - Dior Airflash
3rd - YSL Fusion Ink Foundation

Okay, let's dive in shall we?

First up, we have the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation. Now, I've already written a full review of this foundation, which you can read here. To basically sum this up, it's a light to medium coverage that seriously gives a skin effect.

It honestly looks like your wearing nothing, and it feels like it too. It's definitely a favourite of mine in the summer, when you don't want heavy foundations

Here it is! My all time favourite foundation. I think I'm on my third bottle of this now.

NARS Sheer Glow gives a medium to full coverage and is just simply flawless. It's typically my everyday foundation, and has been since 2012.

I honestly can't praise this foundation enough, especially for NARS' colour matching too!

Ahh, how I love this foundation. When I was in Sixth Form, this foundation was a life saver. Seriously, my foundation would be applied in about 30 seconds. Time saver or what?!

Not only does it have the fastest application I've ever had, but it also gives a great coverage, It's just amazing.

And no, you won't get it all in your hair, trust me!

Now, for a cheeky extra edition.

I realised that my top 3 foundations were all high end, which is why I wanted to include my favourite drug store foundation; Revlon's colorstay foundation.

This foundation has a thick consistency and a great coverage, which is why it's a great go to for me.

Also, what's great is that this foundation is altered to your skin type, which is why I have the combination/oily version. Nice one Revlon!

So, that was my top 3 foundations, plus one!

Question of the post, what is your all time favourite foundation? Let me know in the comments below! I'm always interested in trying new products!

As always, thank you so much for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!

Blogmas day 11 - A bit of plugging

Well hey there lovely people! Here's a blog that's actually published on the day it's meant to be!

Now, for the downside, it's not much of a post, more of a personal advertisement!

As you know by now, I'm doing a module in uni where I'm required to blog. Now, I didn't wanna complicate things and put random blogs on here. Jadebloggs shall forever stay personal. Therefore, I made a wordpress blog for uni, over at www.jadebloggs.wordpress.com

Now, I posted on there today with a post on how to contour, and I would really love for you guys to check it out and let me know in the comments over there what you think!

But before you go, here's a sneak peek of what you can transform from after reading the post!

So, have I caught your attention yet?

head on over to www.jadebloggs.wordpress.com and let me know what you think! Don't forget to leave a comment when you drop by!

Again, apologies for the mediocre posts! My last day of university before Christmas is tomorrow, so after that, expect some fab posts!

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!
